Dr Liane Smith announced as Inspiring Leader finalist for Offshore Achievement Awards

12th January 2015, Chester, UK: Dr Liane Smith, Founder and MD of world-leading well integrity management firm Wood Group Intetech (WGI), has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Inspiring Leader category of the prestigious SPE Offshore Achievement Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding success within the UK offshore industry, in categories which include safety innovations, new technologies, collaborative working, and individual achievement.

With more than 30 years’ industry experience, internationally-renowned engineer Dr Smith is considered a pioneer in the fields of well integrity management and corrosion engineering. In her role at WGI, Dr Smith has led the development of industry-leading well integrity software, including iWIT® for customised well integrity management, and ECE® for corrosion analysis and materials selection of production tubing and flowlines. WGI’s latest innovation, iQRA, is a software platform that enables operators to benchmark the reliability of well components against a global dataset to optimise their well performance.

In testament to her contribution to the field of engineering, Dr Smith has received numerous academic and industry accolades during her career, most notably being elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In addition, WGI received the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise for continuous innovation and development of iWIT®.
